Whatever your budget, don't buy any old PC from a supplier; get a system built & set up for your specific wants & needs.

Points to consider:
- The motherboard & processor will use most of your budget & have the most dramatic effect on performance, with so much difference in price between the low & high end of the price range, how much of a priority is performance? How many USB ports/PCI slots do you need? Are you planning on overclocking (tuning it for higher performance); then you need to choose an appropriate processor, motherboard & cooling system.
- Hard drive (where all of your data is stored on the PC) - Are you going to have lots of large files (music, video etc) on your computer? If so you're going to need as big a hard drive as your budget will allow.
- Are you a game player? If so spend a larger part of your budget on the graphics card otherwise a budget card is more than adequate.
- Are you interested in watching broadcast TV channels on your PC, or capturing them to watch later ? Then a TV Tuner or a Capture card would be well worth investing in, which card you choose is especially important here.
- Is top quality audio high on your list of priorities ? Good quality sound cards & surround sound speakers can be bought for relatively little - or for as much as you're prepared to spend.
- Have you got other PC's (or MAC's) in the house? Share your internet connection (or files & printers) on a home network, wired or wireless.
- How about a wireless keyboard & mouse - this relatively little outlay makes a big difference especially if you're going to use your PC for Home Cinema.
