Custom Built Computers
- Custom built computers based on your requirements &/or budget. Would you like to connect your PC to your TV sometimes .. its easy - if you have the right equipment.
- For all such builds the hardware is guaranteed - parts & labor.
- Tell us what you want (or what you want to use it for) & what you can afford, we will give you a recommendation & a couple of quotes.
- TV capture card, extra hard drive for automated backups or even just for more storage space, eSATA, web cams - the list is endless
The Hardware
Firstly for those who aren't sure what the term means, 'Hardware' is anything you can actually stick a grubby finger on - if you can actually touch it, it IS hardware. For example you cant touch Microsoft Office - you can touch the disc that the program is on, but not the program itself ... that is because a program is 'Software". I have broken the PC's here down into 3 basic groups for easy comparison, although each example can added to or incorporate parts from its 'better' - its your pc what do you want in it ? the prices are as per early winter 2010 - while theres prices may not be current, they do stay pretty steady; prices come down but speed/sizes of parts go up, so you'll effectively pay the same for a better PC as time goes on. See the graph at the bottom of the page as a basic comparison between the 3 types.- First we have what i call 'Basic But Decent' All parts are from top brands - decent speeds, performance & sizes. What you get - A Basic PC Tower (Box) with built in power supply, a good quality mother board & a Pentium Dual Core Processor (like having 2 brains), onboard graphics (this means built in to the motherboard rather than paying for a special graphics card) 2GB of DDR2 (800) memory, a 500GB Hard Drive & a DVD Burner. Cost - About $680 assembled (this means + the cost of the software & the cost of installing the software. Id recommend this for someone who is on a budget or has modest needs from their computer (email going online, writing letters/spreadsheets, playing movies & music etc). while it cant easily be hooked up to your TV it can easily be upgraded (at build time or later) to use a graphics card to allow use with a second monitor or a TV.
- Next we have what i call a 'Graphics system' Basically an upgraded version of the system described above - it has better motherboard (more USB sockets, more memory slots, higher quality components etc) better processor (with more advanced features), bigger hard drive & it has a decent graphics card which means as well as being very 'Games capable', you can also easily hook it up to a TV or second monitor. Cost - About $900 assembled (this means + the cost of the software & the cost of installing the software). I would suggest this system for someone with basic needs who wants a better quality system or someone who wants a gaming system but can't afford 1. I have 1 of these as my 2nd PC (my Server).
- Finally we have a Gaming PC What a Gaming PC costs is a 'piece of string' issue (covering both length & breadth), i have 1 customer who spent $1500 on a single graphics card. although in our example the Gaming PC has an excellent motherboard (4 PCIe slots 6 triple channel memory slots & supports the latest i7 processor as well as a ton of other advanced features) an i7 Quad core processor (like having 4 brains) 6GB of triple channel DDR3 Memory (works WAY faster) 2 good graphics cards (linked together to act like a single Megga graphics card using a technology called SLI), a second hard drive (for automated backups) a high spec Power supply all housed in a Coolmaster 932 HAF Full Sized tower - I kid you not - this thing has wheels. Cost - About $2400 assembled (this means + the cost of the software & the cost of installing the software). I would suggest this system for someone who wants a good looking gaming system, I have 1 of these as my primary (entertainment) PC.
Software & setting up
The prices above include assembly & I can either supply a copy of XP Pro (while its still available) or Windows 7 (Home Premier, Business or Ultimate - as per your requirements) or Install it & any other licensed software you supply yourself (I can also set it up fully - including the latest drivers from the manufacturer - this is basically how I would want to receive a computer I was buying .... all done, ready to go)
